  Texture, shape, and solder to create a ring with wires that spin.

In our Spinner class, students will create a ring, selecting from five metal options in widths of 0.375 or 0.5".
The base metals included in the class price are:
  • Copper
  • Brass
For an additional cost, students can upgrade to the following metals:
  • Silver​
  • Rose Gold
  • Gold Fil
Students will have a choice to make 1 to 3 bands for their spinner ring.

For an additional fee, students can upgrade to:
  • Silver wire
  • Thicker gauge wire

Class Activities and Techniques:​​
  1. Sizing: Students will begin by using a ring sizer to measure their finger and then refer to a sizing chart to mark the correct size on their ring blank.
  2. Cutting: Using a guillotine shear, students will cut the ring and outside wire to the appropriate size.
  3. Stamping and Texturing: Students will stamp and texture their ring and outside wires to create their desired designs.
  4. Forming: The edges of the ring and outside wires will be sanded, and students will use flat nose pliers to form the ends of the rings, ensuring a tight fit.
  5. Cleaning and Soldering: The ring and outside wires will be cleaned with pumice before soldering the formed seam using flux. Students will also work with Pickle to clean away can carbon and residue from the soldering process.
  6. Finishing : Students will file and sand the soldered seam and ring edges. Dap one side of ring to flare,  slide wires on, and dap other side to match. They can apply their preferred finish, choosing either a high-shine polish with a marker or a patina with liver of sulfur.
