Teen Metalsmithing and Enameling Summer Camp

Here’s what you’ll learn in this week long session:   
​Over the course of a week, teens aged 13-18 will have the unique opportunity to explore the art of metalsmithing and torch-fired glass enameling. Guided by experienced instructors, students will embark on an artistic journey, creating two distinct projects while learning foundational techniques in jewelry making.

Camp Classes are being taught by:
Delia Dante and Christina Gilmore 
 Project 1:
  • Enamel Painting - Students will learn how to create a one-of-a-kind painted enameled pendant using powder, liquid, and overglaze painting enamel applications. The finished pendant will then be will be enhanced with a metal tab setting you create! Techniques include torch firing, enameling basics, the application of wet enamels for sgraffito, and painting with sunshine colors, lusters, watercolors and crayons. 
  • Prong setting - Students will learn to use a jeweler's saw to design and cut out their pendant including tabs for setting the enamel piece. Techniques include sawing, filing, sanding, prong/tab setting an object (could be used for stone setting in the future), and cold connection practices.                                        
Project 2:
  • Stamped Ring with Sweat Soldered Bezel - Students will learn how to shape and solder a custom fit ring and then sweat solder a bezel cup with and set a gemstone. A 6mm copper bezel and a variety of stone options are included. You will have many textural and stamp options to choose from. 
What's Included: 
  • Students will have a variety of options for all materials in each project.
  • Copper and Brass metals will be included for each project.
  • All enamels with a variety of colors
  • Students will have full access to our metals and enameling classroom studio with the use of a wide array of professional tools. 
Lunch and Breaks: 
  • Students will enjoy a one-hour midday break each day. We encourage participants to bring their own meals. We welcome students to use our kitchen amenities, including a refrigerator, freezer, and microwave. Students are welcome to enjoy their meals in our kitchen area, relax on the patio, or dine off-campus during their lunch break.

Techniques:  Sawing, filing, sanding, enameling, sizing, cutting, stamping and texturing, finishing, and stone setting

Late Arrivals: 
  • We kindly ask that all participants arrive on time out of respect for our instructors and the extensive preparation involved in each class. Our instructors dedicate significant time to setting up every specialized session, ensuring all materials and tools are ready for an optimal learning experience. Due to the structured, step-by-step nature of our instruction, Late arrivals disrupt the flow of the class and the experience for both the instructor and other participants.

Cancellation Policy
Our classes are intentionally kept small, and cancellations affect all participants.
We understand that plans can change! If you need to cancel, we’re happy to offer a transfer to a different camp session (subject to availability) instead of a refund. Please reach out to us as soon as possible to explore this option.
  • Cancellations made 14 or more days before the camp start date will receive a 50% refund of the amount paid.
  • Cancellations made less than 14 days before the start date, unfortunately, we are unable to issue refunds.
