Delia Dante is an artist who bet everything on her dream and built a life beyond what she imagined. After twelve years as a public school art teacher, she walked away from a career she loved and the security it offered to pursue a calling that refused to stay quiet. What began as an exploration in glass enamel at Boise State University evolved into the fearless pursuit of sculptural innovation that now defines her work.
During a pivotal sabbatical in 2009, she taught herself TIG welding, began shaping flat sheet copper into bold three-dimensional forms, and in 2010 completed the fourteen-foot sculpture "Me Deuce" for Barbacoa Grill in Boise, marking her successful transition into full-time artistry.
Refusing to return to familiarity, she sold everything she owned, including her house and retirement, and took on personal debt to purchase a downtown Boise building with a partner in 2013, establishing the Delia Dante Gallery and FireFusion Studio. In 2019, she expanded into a larger building of her own, cementing her presence as a creative force in the region.
In 2022, Delia reached a new pinnacle with "Árbol de la Vida," a thirty-foot copper and enamel masterwork installed at Coa de Jima in Boise. Combining hand-forged sheet copper, TIG welding, 3D printing, electroplating, and luminous enameling, the project exemplifies her rare ability to merge old-world craftsmanship with cutting-edge technology.
Today, Delia Dante is recognized as a visionary sculptor pushing the boundaries of material, process, and narrative. Her work standing as a testament to courage, risk, innovation, and the relentless pursuit of artistic truth.
Delia continues to push her practice forward through two major bodies of work. “You Can't Take It With You” explores wealth, greed, legacy, and morality through visually striking, psychologically rich sculptural skulls. Her newest “Warrior Women Series” reimagines armor as metaphor, honoring resilience, identity, and the lived experiences of women who "go into combat" in their everyday lives. Together, these works reflect Delia's commitment to storytelling, technical excellence, and a fearless willingness to make work that confronts, questions, and inspires.
